Wounded edges
In July 2022, a forest fire broke out on Monte Gambarogno in Ticino, Switzerland. Dry conditions and strong winds fueled the flames, which spread quickly across the steep terrain. More than 200 hectares of forest were destroyed. WOUNDED EDGES is a personal, poetic response to the 2022 forest fire on Monte Gambarogno in Ticino. Shot on 16mm film and hand-developed with the forest’s ashes, each frame carries the physical memory of the burned landscape. Layered with sound textures made from field recordings, fire, and musical improvisations with charred wood, the film captures the forest’s wounds and resilience. It reflects on impermanence, human impact, and the transformation of a damaged land.
