Hanis Bagashov studied film directing at NATFA “Krastyo Sarafov” in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents (2020 - Directors Summit & 2022 - Script Station), Sarajevo Talents (2018), LIM - Less is More (Le Groupe Ouest), European Short Pitch (Winner of the First Prize), Vienna Shorts Talent Days, First Films First (Goethe Institut), and IDFAcademy. His short "Mishko" premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2018. He played one of the leading roles in the feature "When the Day Had No Name" by Teona Strugar Mitevska (Berlinale 2017), and "Sisterhood" by Dina Duma (Karlovy Vary 2021; Netflix), as well as in "When They Bloom" by Gvozden Ilic (POFF Shorts) His photographic work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art - Skopje. Bagashov is the Head of the Student Competition program at ICFF Manaki Brothers, a member of DAE - Documentary Association of Europe, and a former Head of Industry of Telemach OFF Pro Market in Sarajevo. Bagashov has been part of the European Stories jury of FIPADOC 2025. He is the founder of Hithra Films. Their feature-lenght documentary project in production “I Don’t Want To” has been supported by North Macedonia Film Agency, Al Jazeera Documentary Channel & The Current Time TV.
