Director Marta Monteiro

Marta Monteiro, was born in Penafiel in 1973. Studied Fine Arts -  and Drawing.

After a few years teaching she now works as an illustrator and film director.

Collaborates with newspapers, magazines and publishers all around the world, such as The New York Times and Pato Lógico. Directed two animation short films “Independência de Espírito” (2011), produced by Sardinha em Lata, and “A Sonolenta” (2017), produced by Animais, which won several awards including Best Portuguese Film/ Vasco Granja Award 2018, at Monstra - Lisbon Animated Film Festival. SOPA FRIA (Cold Soup) is her most recent animated short, a production by Animais in co-production with La Clairière (France).
