Thirteen-year-old Nino experiences her first menstruation on the day of her big swimming competition. Despite her wish to swim, Gia, her forty-year-old male trainer thinks she is not able to participate for the health reasons and excludes her from competing.

Melana Sokhadze, born in Georgia, studied painting at the Georgian State Academy of Arts in 2007 before relocating to Geneva in 2008 for further studies. She earned her CCC diploma at HEAD in 2011, delving into critical, cross-cultural, and cybermedia studies. Transitioning to film in 2014, Melana worked as an assistant director on Elene Naverianis’ films Gospel of Anasyrma (2014) and I Am Truly a Drop of Sun on Earth (2017). She co directed her first short film, Birth of Venus, (2016). She also contributed as a producer to Eugene Dyson’s short film Shadows (2017), served as a personal assistant on Piero Messina’s Another End (2022), and worked as an assistance of director on a future project with Levan Koguashvili titled Guria (2023). Inhale is her first short film (2024).
