BEACH IT is a five-day training on how to pitch an original film project. The course will deal with some of the qualities a filmmaker needs to develop his/her projects in the international market place.  It will include training in writing an original dramatic film treatment, as well as improving confidence in expressing a movie idea to a potential financier/distributor/T.V./Internet Executive. There will also be discussions on development, financing, and marketing.

Specifically, during the five-day course the participants will pitch their treatments to industry members present at the Festival, who will select 5 projects out of the 15.  This will result in writing 5 scenes out of the selected treatments, no longer than 3 minutes.


LECTURER

Barry Hanson (UK) - his movie “The long Good Friday” has been described as the best British film ever. He teaches Film & TV Production in London University and has written many papers for academic books and journals in the UK and abroad.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

BEACH IT is open to filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe with fluent English. A maximum of 15 filmmakers with original projects will be accepted for the training. In order to allow a larger number of filmmakers to benefit from the know-how pitching training a limited number of observers will also be accepted.  The observers will only have the right to listen to the course, but not to pitch their projects at the sessions. The results of the application and the scholarship winners will be announced by email on June 5, 2010.

The participation fee for the training is 200 € and includes:

•    Participation in the training
•    Free access to all open classes and presentations at the festival

•    Access to the festival zones
•    Access to the music & entertainment programme
•    Access to the video library
•    Access to MARK IT

Travel, accommodation and meals are NOT included.

A limited number of scholarships is available.

•    short biography of the applicant
•    motivation letter
•    short description of an original film idea (up to 1800 characters)
•    short fiction film treatment in English (not longer than 3 pages of A4 paper)

Please note that the selected filmmakers should also prepare their basic ‘pitches’ before the Festival.
