Synopsis: Bruno finds it very interesting that his father, Daan (35), shaves his beard and head before he leaves on a military mission. When dann offers his son to shave him, Bruno finds it an offer he can not refuse. Along with this intimate way of saying, we goodbay, we see what happens to Dann on his mission in Afghanistan through Bruno playing with his toy soldiers.

Joost Van Gimkel studied "audiovisual production" at the Hogeschool Sittard. After his studies he worked as a assistant director on several TV-drama series. His first directing job was 50" sports documentary on Wimbledon tennis champion Richard Krajicek. During the past twelve years, he worked for Dutch television in selerall capacities, for instance as write/director for a number of educational children's adventure films. In 2002 he won the Stimuleringsfonds Award for best screenplat for (Time according to Thijs) a short documentary about a boy who is facinated by time. In 2006 Joost Van Ginkel and philosopher Bas Haring received an "Eureka Award" nomination for Strof , a tv- series on philosophy. In 2008 Ginkel independently wrote, directed ang produced fis first short fiction film Zand (Sand) , which was officially selected for the venice Film Festival. Zand also was selected as the official Dutch entry for the Oscars and received the Best Dutch Short at the Internatuional Film Festival of Nijmegen , Holland. Thanks of the success of Zand, Van Ginkel was able to realize his second short film Kus (Kiss) anf received fundings to develop his first feature film Oppervlakte (Surface)
