Unable to accept his loss John keeps her death a secret, choosing instead to keep Patricia’s body at home in bed. This quiet, sensitive film explores themes of love, loss and denial through a delicate observation of what is essentially a heart breaking, yet most intriguing situation.

Darren Bolton Biography After obtaining a first class degree in writing and Drama, Darren set up Shooting Fish Theatre Company in 2002, the first of two creative businesses. The company ethos has always been to create innovative, high quality theatre, which gave him scope to reinvent the classics for a contemporary audience, as well as write innovative new plays to tour nationally. Rat Race was the first large production undertaken by the company, which was both written and directed by Darren. Darren’s second major play Laminated commissioned by the Arts Council of England also toured nationally in Autumn 2008 and has returned to development for further touring in 2010. In 2004, addressing his long-standing passion for film, Darren launched Blueprint: Film and completed his first short film Link, a visual poem about broken love. In 2006 (under the Screen Yorkshire digital shorts scheme) Darren wrote and directed Invisible, a film that follows the maturation of a 17-year-old girl at a point of tragedy in her life. Invisible was screened at numerous festivals around the world and went on to win an award for Best Director at the Calgary Fringe Film Festival and Honoree Mention for Best Short Film at Aarhus. Following the success of Invisible, Darren was commission for a second digital short Vigilante in 2008; although early in it’s festival career it has already won an award for Best Short Film at the Glimmer International Film Festival in Hull. Following on from this success Darren was commissioned to make a third digital short with the UK Film Council and Screen Yorkshire - entitled Scent - which is now also enjoying a fantastic festival run.
