Director: Peter King
Peter began his career within the world of short fiction, writing and directing several successful short films before expanding into the world of documentary. Originally from the North East of England, his aspirations to be a filmmaker were sparked by days spent in his fathers TV repair shop watching Betamax and VHS copies of classic films. His shorts have screened in major festivals in over forty countries including screenings in major festivals such as Short Shorts Tokyo, Cork and Raindance. Peter’s first documentary, The City with a Dirty Face, described by Nick Broomfield as ‘observed with a wonderful humanity,’ uses his knowledge of narrative structure and character development to tell a truthful and personal story about the resilience and importance of close societies in times of hardship. The film was recently selected for archiving by the British Film Institute.
