Synopsis: The documentary series A Treasure Fountain by Kanna Racheva and cameraman Ivan Filchev chronicles the illegal export of antiquities from Bulgaria the beginning of the 20th century until present day. The two parts of the series tell about the largest and most spectacular thefts of antiquities in Bulgaria, as well as the creation of the first channels for smuggling antiquities. Archives of the traffic tells about the first museum robberies in Bulgaria in the very beginning of the 20th century – among them the case of the son of a respected western diplomat stealing 1500 precious coins in 1901 in Plovdiv and the impressive hit of an ingenious thief from the Archaeological museum in 1925 in Sofia. Viewers will also learn how the first channels for traffic of antiquities from Bulgaria’s territory have been created and have turned into a fountain of treasures for over 100 years now.
